    Downsizing coil collection

I have an MXT PRO with too many coils and need to downsize. I have the following coils and would like to hear which ones you think I might sell and still give me maximum performance:
    950 concentric
    5.3 concentric
    4x6 shooter
    6x10 DD
    10"D2
    6x8 SEF

I primarily hunt parks/campground for C&J, but also do a bit of nugget hunting and fresh water beach hunting. My ground is highly mineralized in general.

I know I have some overlap in these coils, but am torn about which to keep. My goal is to halve my coil count.

Thanks for any advice you want to share.
    Kerry

    Keep...
950 concentric (Great for hunting high EMI areas.)

4x6 shooter (Great for fence lines, sidewalks and in high trash areas.)
    6x10 DD
    10"D2

    Thanks Rodney
I was thinking I needed a concentric, and love my 4x6...really torn between the6x10 and 10D2. These coils are so close in size....can you give me some insight as to why you like them both?

I agree with Rod's choices. And just a friendly reminder - there's no buying / selling on the forum.

The 10"DD is a "true" 10" coil. The 6X10"DD is a 6" coil. When you measure an elliptical coil, you use the narrow margin. Hope this is helpful.

    Thanks Fox.
BTW, what are your thoughts on the new version 950 vs the older version. I have the new, used to have the old. Is it just a newer look, or is there an advantage of using one over the other?

Man!! I'm glad I don't have to make that decision,,

The big and small concentrics would have to stay if it were up to me. I like the deep whispers of the 950,, and the 5.3,, well it always seemed to me that all it needs to do is get close to a target and it buzz's and draws you in for a closer look.

That would leave me with choosing a big and small DD. The SEF is the only DD I have used, so I can't offer an educated opinion on the others. I guess you could take them out to the test garden and cut the lesser performing DD's from the herd

All that said,,, it seems like you have the perfect outfit as it is!!

All the new coils for the e-series are now "V-machine compatible", ie: deep nulled. "In theory", they should be a tab quieter and more sensitive then the older versions. You need to run your M6 / MXT / DFX pretty hot to take full advantage, but if you look and listen hard, there IS a difference...

There’s a new version of the 10”DD too but the only change is in the appearance.

Welcome to the forum Maniac .... The 10"DD will provide a bit more depth but less separation than the 6X10"DD.
