    Permission To Hunt

This is a new permission to hunt. It's a house dating back to 1881. This was what I found in the back yard, a seven feet wide sweep and around 200 feet long area a hunted. That doesn't sound like a large area but it took me about three hours. This place is going to take me days to finish. I hit a target every one to two feet apart. I found 19 cars, trucks, and a two wheeled something. I dug so much trash you would not believe it. I haven't even been hunting around the house yet. I'm sure silver is there somewhere. But oh brother does my back kill right now. But this felt good to get out to do some hunting. I hope I don't hurt to bad tomorrow for I can go back for more. Thanks for looking.

WTG on all the cars and stuff. A few of them look older. I had a 1900 house back in 2013 my friend and me hit and dug at least that many. Most were the newer ones though. Keep hitting it,If I was closer I would help!

Definitely quite a few cars. I think this child was burying these cars. That’s just too many cars in such a small area in my opinion. I only made one and a half passes in this 1 acre yard. I feel pretty good today so I think I’m heading back to dig some more. I’m always starting my hunts farthest from the house because I like to saved the best for the last. I just have to get to the house area for the silver. Maybe I’ll get there today.

looks like you need to open a car lot--that's a load of neat looking cars. Your hunting strategy is probably the best way to do it, but I can't help but to want to get up next to the house and search for the best goodies and then stray to the outer parts later, and then re-search the area close to the house again. Your way is probably the best way to do a clean, meticulous, slow search and keep the adrenaline up to keep coming back just cause you know it's going to keep getting better. Looking forward to seeing the other keepers

Great hunt Rod. Can't tell from the photos but looks like some Hot Wheels cars. Some of the original Hot Wheels go for big money.

I got some sleep last night and I feel great. I just packed up my tools and now I'm leaving to go back to the house. I hear that silver calling my name.

    Hi My Fellow TH'er
Congrats on all the finds you made! WOW! I had a house that use to do daycare and I found a bunch of those toy cars there. Go easy on your back as I know the pain that comes from overdoing when you know better! LOL Been there, done that! Dig all those signals as I am sure you will find some deep finds and silver! ;-)

    Round Two

I only got to hunt for 1.5 hours. I didn't look to see what today had in store for me but it just had to rain again today. I did okay. One thing that I just don't understand. How is it I found 19 HOT WHEELS yesterday and not a one today. Interesting!!! I was finding less the farther I got away from this one area. It must have been the play area. So... I did manage to find a Mercury dime at 7" and four wheats. I guess I will be hitting it Tuesday next, that's the next nice day. It's suppose to rain until then. The rain will be nice, it always helps the detector get better depth and the ground where I'm hunting is under some huge trees and is very dry.

I know sir, I just want to do so much all the time. I really miss the days of going out MD'ing for 6 - 8 hours straight. I need to take so many breaks now but at least I'm getting something done. My back pain is like a gage to tell me when I need a break. Some people with good backs don't know how good they have it. Me, I'd do anything to have my back in its normal state again.

Yes... there was a lot of sand in the soil. I found a 14 feet wide circle of sand too. That was a swimming pool. Most of the cars were found in the sandy area. About 8 were found in pretty hard soil also. I’m sure I’m going to find more. I’m moving real slow. My sweaps are very wide so I only move forward around 5 or 6 feet a minute. “I really like that tall man rod from White’s.”

Rod .... In the past, I have hunted with "tall men" who found that inverting the S-rod in conjunction with the Tall Man rod improved balance. You might want to give that a try ....

    Round Three

Well I spent three hours hunting this yard today. I did find a 1957 dime. I was happy about that. I'm not finding the silver I thought I would here. I need to go back and hunt around the house with the 4x6 Shooter now. The trash levels are just too high for the 10"DD coil. It's going to be a slow hunt.

I got another permission today. This one comes with a new interested detectorist. I was hunting the yard today and this 20 year old guy walked over and asked about the detector. We got to talking and I asked him if he'd like to go on a hunt with me. He said he would and he said he'd really like to hunt his yard for it is also an 1880's home. We are going to hunt it tomorrow if everything works out.

P.S. I almost forgot to say I found another Hot Wheels car too. No photo. It's still in the car.

    Round Four

Im hunting around the area with the Hot Wheels again. Im going to try to get back there today. Its going to be 51F outside so that will feel nice to me. I might find more silver this next hunt. I still need to use the 4 x 6 shooter around the base of the house. This area turned out to be bigger than I thought because I found out all the property in the back yard was much farther back than I thought. Now I have a lot more to hunt.
