    New to this forum

Finally got out in the dirt at my Son's property in Central California and used the TRX Pinpointer he gave me for Christmas. Speeds up recovery quite a bit. We hunted his old barn, house and riverbank but didn't come up with anything old. Last week me and both my sons hunted the beach in Southern California and I came up with 3 rings ( 1 .925 ) and a cool 14k pendant. I'll post pictures of it when I get back home. I'm still using my trusty 6000d. My son says to upgrade. Maybe I'll learn his V3i now that I have time after retiring. Been at this fine hobby over 40 years. I'll pull out my logs and post the totals in the near future. It's well over $10,000 in gold and silver jewelry, silver coins and clad coins. Happy hunting! A bad day detecting is always better then the best day working!

I didn’t have time to leave a longer message yesterday but again welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you like the TRX. That’s great you have been at it for over 40 years. I’m sure we could learn a few things from you. It’s nice you have access to a V3i. You can take your boy's machine for a drive to see what it can do. I think you will find it is time for an upgrade. The V3i has a huge learning curve but I think you can pick up on it pretty well. You have your son to help you with it too if there’s a problem. You have all us good people on the forum to help you out also. I wish you luck in your hunting and good times with your children. I’m looking forward to seeing your finds. Happy hunting.

Hello to all. I am new member to this forum. I found this site in my search for answers and help to determine if my search coil is broke or not and if it is broke, to discover if I can fix it or not, and then, discover if a suitable replacement is available. I need the help of the members.
My detector, is a whites coin master 3900/D, with a 6B search coil. My coin master, is beeping all the time either on the ground searching or sitting on the arms of a chair. I cannot get it to ground balance and only sound off, when a target passes the loop head....like it did when new.
So one thing I am wanting to discover is: can I use my multi meter, and by touching the pins on the end of the cable from the search coil, determine if the search head is bad or ok or broken?
another is: if I have to replace the search head, am I going to be able to get a replacement that will work with this machine and attach properly?
Is any one using a 3900/D? for it seems every one on you tube, is using a 5000/D s and newer models.
    Help.

Welcome !! Try this .... Disconnect the coil. If your machine quiets down, you most likely have a coil problem. If not, you have a box issue.

Either way, you can get a much more capable machine for the same, or less money than it would take to repair your 3900, especially if you have to replace the coil. Take a look at the Treasure series.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you give Whites a call and see what they say about repairs. Parts for that machine will most likely be an issue ....

    Good luck !!

    Welcome to the forum.

I'd do what Fox said about disconnecting the coil from the box. Good luck!

Congrats on the gold pendant. Looks like the 6000 is still hanging in there.

ID:	111460 Here's a cool find I found 3 years ago at the beach. It's a Lawman's badge in a leather wallet from Chile. It was halfway up a 4 ft cut at the high waterline.

Hopefully the lawman lost it in good circumstances....
