    What do you think

Iíve been running my V3i hot and itís noisy. I zeroed out the 95 tone but it still false on iron. Iím going to zero out the 94 and see it it will quiet it down. Has anyone else done this?

You will have better luck working with Bottlecap Reject and running in Correlate Mode if you're dealing with highly ferrous matrix. BCR controls how the unit deals with iron, and Correlate Mode will let you tailor the Wrap and Span settings for optimum performance in your patch.

Finally, V3i gets its depth from advanced technology and improved signal processing. Running "hot" doesn't always help. In fact, in a really bad matrix, you can generate so much ground noise that the weaker signals from really deep targets are lost. Cool 'er down until you get just the occasional "chat". That's as hot as you want to run. I run about one notch below that point. I like a nice smooth threshold ....

    Good luck !!

I was just going to say what Fox said about running too hot. You definitely donít want to run the V3i hot to the point the machine is chattering out of control. You will miss a good smaller target this way.

BCR, if I use it. I set it between 2 - 4. And 4 being the highest you want to set it.

Don’t know if it’s really running hot, just a little noisy in all the iron infested areas. Took it out today with the new setting and it quieted down a very little. Did hit a beautiful 195 S wheat and 1916 D wheat

At least you're hitting on wheats. Where there's wheats, there is silver.

I run my BCR at 3 or 4 as a general rule. If you need more, use it. You can get up to 6 if need be w/o losing any good targets ....
