the surf pro is a modern version of the surfmaster II. I think anyway. One of the key upgrades to the new beach hunter types is the fact that they don't utilize 9 volts, which is OK by me

But would the Amphibian 2 be a pi machine or dual frequency machine?

I have trouble keeping track of which is which, I am told however that Whites is not one of the best underwater detector makers, no offense to Whites. I am not a big fan of underwater detecting anyway so I will just stick with my DFX :P

That's right, now I remember. VITO is right. The coil of the machine is called the Amphibian coil. When I new at detecting I owned one for all of two weeks and sold it, they are rather old. The detector itself is called a Surfmaster II. I remember how it caused trouble when I tried to order new O-rings for it and the dealer didn't know what I meant when I said I had an Amphibian II

If my memory serves me, the Amphibian was a high frequency straight TR.

Surfmasters as mentioned are Pulse Induction, the circuit developed by Bill Lahr, an outsourced engineer.

The Surfmaster IIs were Classic 6.59 kHz.

What was the deal with the three 9 volts and having to rotate them around like that? wasn't it something to do with the fact that different batteries powered different components in the machine? The newer underwater detectors don't have that anymore. Wasn't it two 9volts to power the processor and one to power the audio ID?
