    Whites Surfmaster Amphibian II?

Does anyone know how old this model Surfmaster Amphibian II is and does it work as well as the new water metal dectors by whites. There is one forsale how much would be the most to over for a used on on Ebay.I was wondering if it would be a good side metal detector with my MXT 300. I thought the Surfmaster might be better for travel by are to take to places like Mexcio. Also what coil is best to take I have the 4x6 and 12inch. Thanks for any help.

Hey buddy. I just got one off E-bay a few months ago. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. The water was too cold when I got it. It runs off 3 nine volt batteries. It is more geared for fresh water detecting from what I read about it. It's a Whites so you know it's a good quality machine. If you can get it for a reasonable price than go for it I say. If you find you like water tectin' and get some nice gold and silver bling then turn in the jewelry and upgrade to a better water tector. I can't wait to try mine out next season. It only takes one nice ring to cover the cost of the machine. I think I bid about $275.00 for my Surfmaster II. I think they made this machine around 8 to 10 years ago. Don't let that scare ya' though. Remember, it's a WHITES. Happy E-baying.
