Hello all, I'm a new member and live in Auburn, WA. My wife and I have Whites detectors. Her's is the MXT, and I just got the MXT Pro. Would like to find others in the area to hunt with and learn about the laws and good places to go detecting.

Schools are usually a pretty good place to start. The playgrounds are usually sawdust or gravel and you can't do much damage so rarely any problems.....
This gives you some time to get acquainted with your new machines.
I read today that you do need to get a Washington permit for detecting in parks????? http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/Metal%20Detecting%20brochure.pdf

This may give you some info as well..... http://www.metaldetectwa.org/default.asp

Wow! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. And thanks johnedoe for the tip and link, I'll look into that parks permit. I am also a photographer so my mind is always thinking of that and I will post pics of finds. Hopefully they will quickly go from pulltabs and bottle caps to more interesting finds. Thanks again and Happy Hunting.

This permit is only for Washington STATE Parks, all other parks are under the jurisdiction of each city and county and all are different. Most are not an issue as long as you leave no trace.

You and your wife have some awesome machines. Welcome to the forum!

Hey MXT1879,

This is Treasuredude and I'm sorry I was not on line when you put out a reply. I am always looking to get out with new people to hunt. Please feel free to give me a call and we can plan a hunt. I live in West Seattle and hunt for Coins and Jewelry for the most part. However, I am a prospector and have found a lot of gold the last three years. I am member of two local coin clubs and a Indepentant treasure hunter. I would be happy to talk to you about the do's and dont's here in Washington.

You might send Roy a PM as his profile says he hasn't been here for over 2 months ..
